Younger Me is in SHOCK
Updated: Apr 28
So, I've taken a few days off from work for my birthday. During that time, the wife and I went out for dinner (a social distanced dinner) and I brought up the idea about an MFA. It's something that wasn't on my radar when I went back to school for Creative Writing, but a few teachers have mentioned it to me, and now I'm getting emails about it from SNHU. I've also gotten emails about the Drexel University MFA program as well, through Writer's Digest Magazine. So we talked about it, and the wife was really supportive of it. I've already written to several schools for more info. Emerson College in Boston, Temple University in Philly, Chatham University, and the University of Pittsburgh (both in Pittsburgh), Wilkes University in Wilkes Barre, East Stroudsburg University in East Stroudsburg, and others. I think Emerson College is my top choice at the moment, because of its focus on popular fiction (horror included!) and its publishing courses. I'm not looking to start classes until Fall 2022 at the earliest (I'm not done with my Bachelors until July 2021 and don't want to jump into an MFA until I'm certain I want to and I'm ready), so I'm not on a strict deadline at the moment. A lot of these schools require an essay and writing samples, so I have time to get some GOOD works together. Also, it gives me time to figure out what I want to do with my degree and where I see myself in the future. Right now, I'm honestly not sure.
I'm going to try to keep blogging on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I have a lot on my mind and my plate at the present. I will certainly keep blogging twice a week, but I might space the days more apart. We shall see. Still working on short stories, and I still have homework that needs to be done. The struggle never ends…
